Author, Alysse Adularia, began writing short scripts for two people who asked that very question, days apart, while desperately wanting to keep her safe during the deepest depression she had ever experienced. June 15, 2011I want this review to be written with accuracy and truth. As I scrutinized my thoughts about what to title this review, I decided that it would involve 2 positions. One, as telescope viewer. The other as the star in the sky. I could be both viewer and viewee. I switched positions and in doing that became each point of view.
I grasped a new understanding as I observed what bipolarism appears to be, an encompassing of depression, self-analysis, extreme mood swings, and sometimes a wish for self-destruction.
As a consumer/member of mental health issues, I empathized with the similarities from the antithetical point of view as one in need of being understood by family and friends. The chapter that leaped from the book was the one that explained how pleasing others and wanting to help them was not appreciated and more likely to be offensive.
I think Alysse's explanations and insights are superb. Her writing style is excellent. I relate to her entrepreneurial abilities. That work endeavor has been a blessing for me. From an early age I got the message/adage that "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

This is a great little book, conversational and easy to read quickly the first time through, but I find myself going back to it again and again for advice and encouragement. It is well organized into useful topics; it an excellent tool for anyone who supports and loves a relative or friend who is bipolar. The author's honesty, candor, and willingness to share from her own life experiences make the advice practical and real. Highly recommended!
