With the Fay army on her trail and a traitor racing her to reach the cure first, Emma is pushed to the limits of her burgeoning power. Though she treks across oceans, forests, deserts, and into the heart of a ghost city, she never walks the path alone. Friends old and new are on hand to help with bar brawls, flying serpents, and other travel hazards. When an evil greater than the curse is uncovered, Emma’s journey becomes a battle to save not just her home, but her friends as well.

This was much more awesome than the first one! There was more cohesiveness to the paths taken and lots more things made sense.The book starts out with Emma being betrayed by a fool, who you wouldn't have thought capable of it. The Fae land has started turning against itself in retribution, and Emma is accused of it. Lev flees with her and they land on a (pirate?) ship bound to follow. They make a deal with the Hobgoblin Captain with an ingenious magical earring. Once they land, Emma meets a skittish boy named Hue, who is an empath/telepath and can communicate with wind drakes (dragons!)
This book is the best of the three so far, there are no wanes in the action and the story shone through.

Emma Wren's world becomes a lot bigger in The Flute Keeper's Voyage, the second of her Flute Keeper Saga. Ashley Setzer shows us a world full of color and details as Emma Wren sets sail for lands across the sea. This book left me wanting to read more about Emma, Lev, Chloe, Garland, the Fay, the Slaugh, goblins, brownies, pet manticores and all the rest of the inhabitants of Faylinn, and really, you couldn't ask for more in a book.
It was a great read and cannot wait for the next. I love these books! They pull you in and you don't want to be let go.
This book was amazing. It kept me entertained the whole time. If you love fantasy, this is PERFECT! If you enjoyed Lord of the Rings, this book will absolutely blow you away.
I'm not generally into YA writing, but Miss Setzer has a way of telling a story that is both magical and engaging without the usual pandering to a typical 14-year-old sensibility. I highly recommend this read.
This book is often hilarious and the action is pretty-much non-stop. But even with all the humor and adventure (a pirate ship, a port town occupied by unsavory characters, and a ghost city), Setzer still manages to weave through it Emma Wren's struggle to find her place in the world and to become the person she wants to be. I also loved that, even with Emma's growing relationship with Lev, this book also accentuates Emma's frienships and her bonds with other well developed, and sometimes prickly, characters.
