Just in Time Escape to New Zealand Book 8 eBook Rosalind James

First, this is a standalone read with no cliffhanger. It does have sex scenes so it may not be for you. I read some of the lower star reviews and I have to wonder!! I know there is something for everyone and not everyone is going to be happy. I do wonder though, when two consenting adults have sex, why is what some chose to do considered porn? That just doesn't make sense to me. I realize not everything is good for all folks, but if that is what they chose to do and you don't chose it therefore it is porn or wrong, etc. Frankly, I think anything that floats your boat is fine. I think maybe that is why we have so many divorces. The goose marries the wrong gander! I bet if you could get a guy to read a romance book he wouldn't think it was porn but would like to try some of the things he reads about. That is enough for my soapbox.

Now the story. Of course it is set in New Zealand and the big handsome rugby players. I LOVED this hero. He was a big mean guy on the field but in real life he was a family man, financially taking care of his mother, grandmother and 2 siblings. He is honorable, kind, funny, and sexy as heck. He was a perfect hero and I really don't know how the heroine, Faith, held him off as long as she did. He was instantly drawn to her and wanted her.

Faith is a photographer's assistant and 2 other jobs in Las Vegas. She meets Will and she is attracted but she believes all the hype about him so she keeps him at bay. She knows he is a celebrity in New Zealand but his reputation is that he is a playboy and he admits he doesn't "stick". So she is determined not to be another gal he leaves behind.

Circumstances have the both of them in New Zealand where they are facing a lot of problems. It is a good story of these two coming together and all they had to overcome. There are sex scenes but I thought they were good. A romance without sex is missing something, I think. I thought the scenes were done well. Will is a fierce lover and very sexual, only to be expected when you learn who he is. It is a good story, his mother is somewhat of a witch. Having made bad decisions in her life she seems to paint everyone with the brush that her life choices were painted with. thank goodness for the grandmother. She was a very wise, calming influence. The young sister is a teenager trying to find her way. It is a great story and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it. Great read.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Just in Time Escape to New Zealand Book 8 eBook Rosalind James Reviews

I love the Escape to NZ series; I wish I could afford to travel there. The glossaries at the end are so amusing as well as recipes in one of the stories. Anyhow I had a little bit of hard time wrapping my head around the website that Faith was setting up with suggestive photos then having people write fictional erotic romance stories based upon them. Of course she didn't know how all that would affect Will's rugby career in En Zed and he never thought anyone there would find out since he did use his real name when he agreed to pose for them. Unlike here, where athletic super stars can beat their wives and kids then get slap on the wrist and a few games suspension, in NZ they still expect their rugby super stars to be role models. When Will got back to NZ, his agent was ready to drop him because now the All Blacks suspended him and his family were shocked that he would so something like "porn". I sort of felt Faith used him for her personal gain since she also wrote a story (Fierce) using those photos; also she self-published the book series but never told him and was making serious bucks now. He was blindsided by the stories she wrote because he thought the controversy had died down now that he was back playing for the All Blacks. However, his agent called after the team had won to inform him of this latest scandal. He did read the stories and liked them but was hurt that Faith didn't at least tell him and trust that they would weather the storm. I wondered how they would work this out and they did. I read Fierce first before Just in Time. It was a little outside the box for this author but I loved it.
I'm a big fan of Rosalind James' "Escape to New Zealand" rugby romance series, and have faithfully read them all. It is a smart, sweet, funny, and oh-so-sexy set, and this is another nice addition to the series. Will is a man who "doesn't stick" and isn't staying around anyway, so for Faith, there's no point in getting involved. But there's always a point, eh? Faith is dogged in her work and insecure in her life, smart and clever, and a little bit jaded about romance. She seems to easily resist Will's considerable charms, which he just can't understand. Will is sweet and funny, a little bit immature, and running away from his entire life when he runs into someone who stops him in his tracks. I loved their interaction, and I loved the fact that they were both dealing with larger issues that didn't simply involve the standard romantic woes. Will and Faith are charming together, and both flawed in very believable ways. They spend a long time getting to know each other, developing their friendship and having romantic near-misses. So their story builds a little slower than some of the other entries in the series, but they are ultimately a delightful - and sizzling - couple.

I thought their HEA came maybe a little tiny bit too easily (I like my heroes to suffer a bit more, I guess), but it was a fun, sweet and enjoyable read. I especially liked switching up the setting, starting out in Las Vegas for quite a long while. It put our heroine on home turf and our hero off balance abroad, reversing the roles from the rest of the series. It was a refreshing spin on the formula, and Will and Faith were both immensely likable characters.

Overall, it's a delight, and one I'd recommend. It is not necessary to read the rest of the series to enjoy this one, since it's somewhat of a standalone cast of characters.
